From time to time, I really enjoy shutting Photoshop down and doing one-off original pieces, specifically in ink and watercolour.

This is simply a bit of fun created lately...

Heathen Beats

 

 

I've recently completed this ink/watercolour original piece.

 

I've got a soft spot for all that weird 70's pagan stuff such as 'The Wicker Man', 'Blood on Satan's Claw', the books of Alan Garner and Susan Cooper and the likes of recent horror movie 'Kill List'. For sheer stylization purposes I collided all that with motifs and imagery from clubland; mirrorballs, headphones, turntables.

 

 

 

 

 

Along with ink and watercolour there's acrylic and charcoal thrown into the mix. This has really wetted my appetite for doing more original pieces that combine soft watercolour build ups and strong inking.

 

The piece with a black mounting board frame is approx. 52cm x 44 cm and can be purchased through my etsy store.

 

A Notion Deep Inside..

Last year, it was a Gram Parsons piece for my brother's 40th,this year it's my sisters turn and she gets this Bruce Springsteen piece as she's a massive, massive fan (not long back from seeing a home town concert in New Jersey).

It's A3 dimensions and created using pencil, watercolour, ink and charcoal.

I probably lose Brucie Bonus Points as the image is from the 'Born to Run' photoshoot and lyrics are from 'Badlands' to be found on 'Darkness on the Edge of Town'.

Big Ten Bob Blow-Out

Over at my Etsy shop I'm selling a number of original one-off pieces including ink, watercolour and acrylic work for the crazy price of £10 each (this does not include additional postage costs, that would be crazy).

I've recently created a one-off piece for my brother's 40th. He's a massive fan of Gram Parsons so created this using pencil, watercolour, ink and... sequins.

Tyger Tyger, Burning Bright

Continuing my tiger obsession, here's a 6-pager reinterpreting William Blake's poem 'Tyger, Tyger' with a bit of future nuclear meltdown dystopia and mod scooter girls thrown into the mix.

It makes sense in my head.

Tiger & Tusks

This is an original piece of commissioned artwork I've recently created, approx A3 size. It's watercolour with black indian ink outlines.

There is an south-east asian connection in the couple I created it for so this gave me the opportunity to indulge my mild tiger obsession.

A quick bit of watercolour/ink daftness. It's The Wild Ones + The Muppets + The Honey Monster.

Vlad

This is a recent piece I've finished. It's in pencil, watercolour and ink. Decided to really ramp up the bold outlines. Pretty happy with how it turned out though made a cock-up inking in the loops of the crown of thorns. Someday soon I'll get it all right.
